Only the top students are admitted to the program. Each one has achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 7 out of 10 (a B+ average). Students begin their first work term after one complete year of study, giving them a strong academic foundation to help them succeed on the job. You may choose French-speaking, English-speaking or bilingual students. The sequence of work and study terms is shown below.

Skills that are in demand

CO-OP students enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering program acquire advanced knowledge in a wide range of engineering fields, including design, manufacturing, maintenance, machinery, materials, energy, automation, biomedical engineering, high-tech, aerospace, automotive engineering and more. Students learn to apply fundamental principles of science and math to develop efficient, practical and useful solutions to real challenges and to create a wide range of mechanical, thermal and biomedical systems and devices, from computer parts to power plants, from manufacturing systems to spacecraft. They are trained to high ethical standards and learn to understand and address the impact of technology on society and the environment. In addition to technical knowhow, students acquire skills in experimental analysis, statistical evaluation, written and oral communication, report writing, project management, consulting, networking and leadership.
