CO-OP Student of the Month of January 2019
Program: Public Administration
I started my undergrad degree hoping to join the Foreign Service after graduating. My first CO-OP placement as an advocacy officer at Global Affairs Canada gave me a taste of the broad scope of Canada’s programs and services abroad, from public affairs and cultural diplomacy to security and development. Since doing that placement, I’ve explored other aspects of international affairs through a placement with Natural Resources Canada’s international affairs team followed by an internship at the NGO Forum of Federations in Myanmar through the Faculty of Social Science’s international internship program. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to dig my hands into Canada’s work abroad and learn from working with the intelligent and dedicated people who support it.
I’m excited to be starting a CO-OP placement now as an intern in the commercial section of the Mission of Canada to the EU in Brussels, where I’ll be working on trade, technology, innovation, science and economic files and helping support Canada’s relationship with the EU in these areas.
