CO-OP Student of November 2019
Faculty of Law - Civil Law
When I chose to enroll in the CO-OP Program, I wanted to get to learn more about myself and find out if my field of study was the right fit for me. I also wanted to develop my skills in my field of study. That’s why I decided, just like my studies, to do my internships outside of my hometown. I’m in my third university year and I have already started my second CO-OP internship.
I first had the chance to do my first internship at the “Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse” in Montreal, which allowed me to discover a colourful city while confirming that a career in law is the right fit me. During this short four-month period, I had a great opportunity to work closely with lawyers and researchers and I participated in debates on fundamental rights and freedoms.
I have now started my second internship with Norton Rose Fulbright S.E.N.C.R.L., s.r.l. in Québec City, a different place to discover. In this large-scale private firm, I’m getting a solid legal background in addition to discovering several law fields that I had never explored before. I also had the opportunity to attend questionings and negotiating sessions.
The CO-OP program allowed me to live in two different cities and gave me the opportunity to compare public legal services to legal practices. I am now looking forward to new learning opportunities in my next internship!
